Once Upon A Time In Lubbock Texas

So. Once upon a time in Lubbock Texas - I worked with these amazing people. AND they just so happened to be in town for the wedding of a reporter. What are the odds?!? It's moments like these that make me believe its true that everything happens for a reason. A purpose for all things. Who knows. But somehow I ended up getting a job in Raleigh and they all ended up coming here. I don't ask questions LOL... ill just go with it.

The guy on the far right = thats the very first person to ever give me a job in TV.
His name: Benji.  His title: News Director.

I can't really put into words how amazing it was to see him and how thankful I will always be for the opportunity he gave me almost 5 years ago to do what I love. I often wonder where I would be today if he didn't hire me.

He hired me as a reporter for KCBD NewsChannel 11 in November of 2010. Seems like forever ago these days. When we hugged goodbye he told me he was proud to say that he knows me.

Made me feel like a million bucks.

Outfit: Orange dress available and on sale @ Anne Klein Knot Wrap dress

Heres to good memories. good times. good people. and those chance opportunities that often change the rest of your life.

This Rasberry top was my fav color at The Limited - I saw it and had to have it! Color just really pops! You can get the top in several colors HERE. AND the BELT was EVERYTHING!! Unfortunately Sold out now :/ I love the belt so much- another one of my faves HERE. One piece can sometimes make such a difference. I cant even imagine this outfit without the belt. Shoes are Michael Kors (mine are SOLD OUT)/- Similar HERE.

ANDDDD MKTO performed on the show today.
So AMAZE!
You know them from their smash hit "Classic": LISTEN HEREThey debuted their new single 'American Dream' - You can watch/listen to it: HERE
Malcolm Kelly and Tony Oller are the dynamic duo behind #MKTO and genuinely very talented guys.

Of course we had to take a selfie.
Before that, Aries Spears was cracking us up on the show.

I asked him how he chooses the celebrities to impersonate and he said "Marijuana" haha.

I was pretty sure I was fired on my first week on the show after that. haha.
But luckily the GM missed it.

TGIF.
Happy weekend.

Follow Your Dreams

So this is what that feels like...
Not gonna lie...

its a pretty phenomenal feeling when you come to work one day and see a giant photo of yourself in the lobby and a mini cutout of your face on the station website...

I say this because there was a time when I didn't think all the "tv news" sacrifices I had to make in my life was worth what I'd been through to get here. And its NOT the picture on the wall that makes it worth it.

...I remember serving tables in Los Angeles at The Cheesecake Factory thinking I might never see the day, missing weddings, holidays, reunions, birthdays, bridesmaid invitations...the list goes on

then suddenly I wake up...

And here I am standing in front of a picture of myself doing what I love to do
< (and yes.. i stood there for about a good 5 minutes- staring at it) > LOL.

So maybe this will inspire you or someone else reading this NEVER to give up. Because there were so many moments when I thought about giving up.

Turns out the journey ...while sometimes rough...it was all worth it.

Just wish my dad were alive to see it, but I like to think he has VIP seats somewhere out there... ‪#‎thebestisyettocome‬ #‎grateful‬ ‪#‎hardworkpaysoff‬ ‪#‎followyourdreams‬ and most of all ‪#‎nevergiveup‬

P.S.  Oh and I always tip really well at the Cheesecake Factory -- I don't forget where I came from.
